Welcome to my practice
Hello
Hello, I’m the principal of Kym Madden Counselling and Coaching in Annerley, Brisbane. My office is just south of the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
I offer individual counselling to men and women, both in-person and by video or telephone sessions (telehealth). I also provide flexible arrangements for employers wishing to support their valued staff with sponsored counselling (see Employers).
If you’re looking for someone who understands the nuances of work or relationship issues, or something deeply personal, I will do my best to help. I have several decades of work experience outside of counselling. I also have common sense and compassion from dealing with many life challenges myself.
My approach to counselling is person-centered and strengths-based, informed by coaching principles. This just means I see you as a whole person, not as someone with a problem. You hope for something and we build on this.
Our sessions are practical but always in sync with your needs.
I am certified in personal counselling, grief counselling, solution-focused brief therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. I also hold a PhD and Masters with Honours in communication. I practice according to the Australian Counselling Association Code of Ethics and am a member of the Association for Contextual Behavior.
I offer you a safe, confidential space to acknowledge and understand what’s happening in your life and help you move in the direction that’s right for you.
See How it works page for details on how sessions are offered.
You hope for something and we build on this.
Please note that I keep one free time for new clients on purpose – I’ve been a client at times and wait times can be unrealistic. I choose not to cram appointments: this way, I can be fresh for you, give you all my attention and avoid burnout.
You’ll find me at 4/493 Ipswich Road, Annerley (corner of Norman Street). There is a lift, and parking on site including for disabled visitors. Public transport is close by.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have, anytime.
